The Perth guide. Airports, curfews, prices and who flies from here.

Perth Airport handles more than a third of Australia's charter passengers. BITRE's 2025 figures put national fixed-wing charter at 4.35 million passengers, with Perth Airport accounting for 35.7 per cent. BITRE does not say what those passengers were flying for, but the share sets Perth apart from every other city on this site.

For anyone chartering a one-off trip out of Perth, distance is the first fact. Perth to Melbourne is 2,706 km and Perth to Sydney is 3,284 km, which is why Charter One prices Perth to Melbourne from about $50,000 on a light jet and Navair quotes $105,000 for a same-day return between Sydney and Perth on a mid or heavy jet.

Prices shown are published estimates only. Your final price will depend on the aircraft available, travel date, route, passenger numbers, luggage and any additional fees. Request a quote from the charter company for an exact price.

Why the east coast sectors cost so much

Distance is only half of it. A flight of 2,700 to 3,300 km takes three and a half hours or more and demands range, fuel reserves and payload that the smallest jets do not have: Airly lists its Citation Mustang at about 1,150 nm, against 1,461 nm from Melbourne to Perth. Headwinds crossing the Nullarbor westbound can be the difference between a nonstop and a fuel stop, and a fuel stop adds time and money. Whether a particular aircraft can do your sector without stopping depends on its range with the people and luggage you are actually carrying that day, which is a question for the operator rather than something you can look up.

For eight people, Charter One's $50,000 Perth to Melbourne light jet figure comes to $6,250 each, on our division. Six people flying Sydney to Melbourne pay around $2,000 a head. Check the same-day business class fare on your date before taking that to a board, because at Perth prices the comparison gets harder.

Regional and mine site flying

A large part of this market works differently from executive charter.

Turboprops such as the King Air and PC-12 can use short unsealed strips that most jets cannot, although Asian Sky Group notes the Pilatus PC-24 is a light jet designed for unpaved runways and used to reach remote mining sites. Charter One prices Perth to Karratha on that sort of aircraft from $20,000 to $24,000. Adagold's published examples run larger again, including an 18 passenger Metroliner to Margaret River at around $15,500 plus GST, on an undated page.

In our reading, operators geared to resources work are built around contracts and rosters, so say early that you are booking one flight rather than a season of them. It saves a round of calls.

Perth Airport and Jandakot

Perth Airport takes the larger aircraft and anything international.

Jandakot is the general aviation field about 20 km south of the city, home to operators including Corsaire Aviation and CASAIR. For anyone in the southern suburbs it cuts a long drive.

Neither has a Commonwealth curfew. The four curfewed airports are Sydney, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Essendon Fields, so a late departure from Perth is a question of crew hours rather than law.

One thing east coast travellers get caught by: Perth is two hours behind Sydney and Melbourne in standard time, so a 9am Perth meeting is 11am on an east coast body clock, and the flight home lands late in the evening.

Brokers and national companies also sell flights from Perth. They are listed with their register status at the top of this page.

The last column decides more than it looks. Under CASA's rules any company carrying passengers for hire or reward must hold an Air Operator's Certificate issued under CASR Part 119, and that certificate brings a safety management system, training and checking, drug and alcohol testing, stricter maintenance and routine audits. A broker does not need an AOC, because a broker does not operate the aircraft. It arranges a flight on an aircraft somebody else operates.

Neither arrangement is wrong, and brokers earn their fee when you need a type no single operator has. But CASA's consumer advice is direct: the company that sold you the flight may not be the company operating it, so ask who the legal operator is and confirm they hold an AOC.

We checked these companies against the CASA register on 29 September 2026. CASAIR, Maxem and Revesco hold certificates in their own names, Fly Legendaire's is held by Native Oracle Pty Ltd, and Corsaire business names are held by two companies that hold CASA certificates, Priority Shark Bay Pty Ltd and Point Aviation Pty Ltd. The register lists legal entity names rather than trading names, and several of the operators here only turned up once we traced the company behind the brand. If a company is not listed, ask which entity holds the certificate and check that name. CASA's advice line is 131 757.

When empty legs appear

Rarely, on the listings we have seen. None of the sectors FlightCharter listed on 29 September 2026 started or finished in Perth, and any leg between Perth and the east coast crosses the country.

Registering your route with two or three companies is more practical than watching listing pages, and nothing may come up on your dates at all.

Common questions

How much is a private jet from Perth to Sydney?

Navair publishes $105,000 for a same-day return on a mid or heavy jet. No company publishes a light jet price for this sector. Whether a light jet can do it nonstop depends on the aircraft, the load and the wind, so ask the operator.

Can a light jet fly Perth to Melbourne without stopping?

It depends on the aircraft, the load and the wind. Charter One quotes a light jet Perth to Melbourne from about $50,000, so it is priced as a light jet sector, but confirm the routing with the operator rather than assuming a nonstop.

Is there a curfew at Perth Airport?

No. Commonwealth curfews cover Sydney, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Essendon Fields only. Perth Airport and Jandakot both operate without one.

Should I use Perth Airport or Jandakot?

Perth Airport for larger jets and international flights. Jandakot if you are coming from the southern suburbs and your operator is based there. The aircraft usually decides, so ask the operator before planning the drive.

Can I charter from Perth to Bali?

Ask operators for a quote, because no company publishes a Perth to Bali price. For scale, on 29 September 2026 FlightCharter listed a trans-Tasman empty leg, Auckland to Tullamarine on a Legacy 600, at $31,000 excluding GST.
